This class aims to introduce student engineers to physical mechanisms of solid materials so that they might interpret their utility in electronics applications, particularly in propagation and optical electronics.
Upon completion of this class, students should be able to :
- Understand basic atomic structures of solids
- Understand the electrical properties of solids
- Understand the properties of magnetism
- Structure of solids - atoms, molecules, ions, crystals, energy diagrams
- Conductors, semi-conductors and insulators
- Magnetism and magnetic fields
Individual control: coefficient 2
Project (Scientifical poster) : coefficient 1
